LDP San Roque, Guiwan rallies draw crowd
Zamboanga City - - A rousing welcome met Mayor Celso Lobregat and his entire Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) team in San Roque and Guiwan where the group barnstormed Monday and Tuesday, a gesture of appreciation to the support provided by the present administration to the barangays.
In San Roque, many residents—children and adults alike came out of their residences to greet Lobregat, District I congressional candidate Beng Climaco, vice mayoralty bet Mila Velasquez and council aspirants who went around the village for a house to house campaign Monday morning.
Hordes of residents also attended the rally held at the barangay hall plaza later in the evening to listen to the candidates’ platform of government and be entertained with the intermission numbers presented in between the speeches.
“We are thankful to the Lobregat administration for the many projects given to our barangay”, Mauro Feliciano, the soft spoken chief of barangay San Roque said in chavacano.
Millions of pesos in city funds were poured into the barangay since the start of the Lobregat administration for the implementation of rip rapping, drainage system and road concreting projects. Added to these are the construction of a health center, rehabilitation of school buildings and several others.
Feliciano said the projects have benefited his constituents and alleviated the plight of those staying along the river banks. “Another term for the Lobregat administration will ensure the continuity of the programs already in place”, he stressed.
On the other hand, constituents of Guiwan led by Crispin Basilio cheered Lobregat and Velasquez and their District II team spearheaded by re-electionist congressman Erbie Fabian, who hopped from house to house as a group not only to campaign but also to listen to the resident’s concerns.
Many men, women and children would go out of their rooms or stop whatever they are doing if only to greet the visiting candidates in their barangay.
Guiwan, one of the biggest barangays in the city is also a recipient of numerous projects funded by the city government. The on going road concreting and drainage system projects are among the many undertakings of the Lobregat administration.
Basilio said the efficiency of the administration of Mayor Celso Lobregat makes the LDP team in Zamboanga a force to reckon with in the forthcoming May 14 elections. He thanked Mayor Lobregat for the continuous assistance being given to his constituents.
The District I council aspirants are Rudy Lim, Antonio Orendain Jr., Gerky Valesco, Manny Luna, Mario Roca, Vic Alvarez, Lynet Abarro and Jawo Jimenez. Their counterparts in District II are re-electionists Asbi Edding, Roel Natividad, Kim Elago, Cesar Iturralde, Nonong Guingona, Rey Candido and newcomers Lilia Nuno and Eddie Saavedra.
