P3.6 M Divisoria School building unveiled
Zamboanga City - - The city government pursues its commitment to develop and improve the Divisoria National High School also known Maria Clara Lorenzo Lobregat National High School, as it unveiled a two-storey 6 classroom building, the first of three projects granted by the Lobregat administration for this year.
“This is another great day for Zamboanga City and for Maria Clara Lobregat High School, we are inaugurating another building, a two-storey 6 classroom building and as you can see in one or two months we will come back to turn over another school building”, Mayor Celso Lobregat declared during the inauguration and turn over ceremony yesterday.
The building unveiled yesterday cost the city government some P3.6 million and is part of the Special Education Fund (SEF) coursed through the Local School Board.
Another edifice, this time, a two-storey 8-classroom building worth P5.9 million is under construction and is set to be completed in a month or two.
“There is another one coming up”, Lobregat announced referring to another 2-storey 8 classroom building project included in the 2007 executive budget. The proposal is up for bidding.
“This school is the fastest growing school in the entire city, there are over 2,000 students and that’s why we have to keep on building new classrooms to accommodate the growing school population”, the mayor continued to the delight of the students and school administration led by Principal Felisa Munar.
The Maria Clara Lobregat National High School caters to students from Boalan, Lumbangan, Lumayang, Putik and other neighboring barangays. It was named after the late Mayor Maria Clara Lobregat based on a request from the Divisoria Barangay Council and the School administration, as it was Mrs. Lobregat who initiated the establishment of the school.
The city government acquired the school site and the buildings were constructed with funds coming from the Priority Development Fund of then Cong. and now Mayor Celso Lobregat.
Aside from the additional two buildings, Lobregat said the school will also be a recipient of a covered shed project to be used for school and even barangay activities.
Present during the turn over and inauguration ceremonies yesterday were Assistant City Schools Superintendent Pedro Natividad, Principal Munar, City Engineer Luis Despalo Councilors Kim Elago, Eddie Saavedra, Roel Natividad, Gerky Valesco, Nonong Guingona and Rudy Lim, Divisoria barangay chairman Rosemarie Covarrubias and her councilmen and the contractor.
