Beng gives aid to senior citizens, Tumaga fire victims
Zamboanga City - - Representative Beng Climaco of District I recently visited the senior citizens at their office in Sta. Barbara and the 10 families affected by the conflagration in Tumaga to distribute goods and cash assistance in pursuit of her social welfare programs.
The congresswoman distributed medicines and vitamins to members of the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), a program of the city government implemented through the City Social Welfare Office.
“These medicines are responsive to ailments that go with aging”, the lady solon said as she turned over the drugs to OSCA officials last October 30.
Being in the infancy stage, the District I congressional office, she said is doing everything to provide the necessary assistance to the different sectors.
Two days before proceeding to the OSCA, the congresswoman also distributed cash assistance to fire victims of the conflagration in barangay Tumaga.
The distribution of the cash aid was in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development Office under Francisco Barredo. All cash assistance for burial, health and social services coming from the congressional office is being released through Barredo’s office.
She hoped that the cash assistance that the congressional office provided would help alleviate the plight of the fire victims, whose houses were razed to the ground.
Also last week, the congresswoman, in line with her health programs, distributed health insurance cards to some 317 barangay health workers, nutrition scholars and Red Cross volunteers from the west coast.
Nursing bags with accompanying paraphernalia were also distributed to the barangays during the same day. (Ryan Sta. Teresa)
